Help! I Found An Oiled Bird

If you have found an oiled or contaminated bird, DO NOT attempt to clean the bird or give it a bath. The process is far more complicated than portrayed in commercials. Keep the bird warm and call Tri-State at 302-737-9543 ext. 121 or your local wildlife rehabilitator immediately. Please leave decontamination to the professionals.

Wildlife Responders

When oil hits the water, it’s not just the shoreline that’s at risk—our feathered wildlife often suffers first and worst. In this podcast episode, Field Response Manager Dan Wilson takes us on a dive into the specialized efforts our response facility takes to protect and rehabilitate birds affected by oil spills. From initial rescue to cleaning and care, our team shares the delicate, often emotional work behind giving these animals a second chance.
