Photo of red-tailed hawk Red-tailed Hawk
(Buteo jamaicensis)

[add to cart]

The Red-tailed Hawk is significant in some Native American cultures, who regard the feathers as sacred. Although considered an open-country raptor, you may see one from time to time along the highway, gazing down from a utility pole in search of a tasty mouse lunch. Their eyesight is typically at least eight times greater than ours.

Photo of Tufted Titmouse Tufted Titmouse
(Baeolophus bicolor)

[add to cart]

The Tufted Titmouse lines its nest with soft materials, even plucking fur from live animals such as a sleeping dog! Sometimes, a bird hatched the year before stays to help its parents raise the next year’s young. A pair remains together and defends their territory year-round. These animated birds are frequent visitors of backyard feeders.

Wood Duck
(Aix sponsa) [add to cart]

This “perching duck” lives in wooded swamps, shallow lakes, marches or ponds. They usually nest in tree cavities near water and may take advantage of your nesting box if it is in a  wetland location! The brave young flightless ducklings will take an incredible leap of faith from their nests as high as 20 feet up.
