Rehabilitation
Tri-State's Wildlife Clinic is one the largest rehabilitation facilities in the country, providing expert medical care for thousands of wild birds each year. In recent years, Tri-State has received more than 2,800 injured and orphaned native birds annually from the Mid-Atlantic region and sometimes beyond. The clinic is open 365-days-a-year to receive injured animals from the general public and wildlife officials.
Patients at the Clinic range from tiny hummingbirds to the majestic bald eagle. As diverse as the species themselves are the injuries that bring them to us. We have found that the majority of our patients have been injured, directly or indirectly, as the result of human activity. They are victims of habitat destruction, cat attacks, oil spills, pesticide poisoning, car impacts, discarded fishing line, and gunshots. Tri-state is committed to giving these innocent creatures a second chance as they struggle to survive in an increasingly urbanized world.

The Clinic operates under federal and state permits from multiple states. It is staffed by wildlife veterinarians, wildlife rehabilitators and dedicated volunteers who receive training in bird care. Tri-State is located on land donated by New Castle County, surrounded by 850 acres of natural parkland.
